Acquisition of Island Textile Mills Ltd. in the year 1981 was the beginning of a new era for TATA group of companies. Till 1981 Island was just an ordinary mills equipped with Russian Plant and Machineries and struggling to survive in the tough world of spinning.

The change of management under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Shahid TATA, Island experienced a complete facelift and became one of the most modern spinning mills of PC yarn in Pakistan.

Although the improvements have started immediately after it was acquired from its previous owners, the last five years have seen a major turn-around in the history of Island.

" Quality is movement", says Mr. Shahid and he leads this movement with passion of an artist. The result is visible. Island today is equipped with most modern laboratory equipments in Pakistan. With the completion of its lab Island is a completely renovated unit with an investment of Rs. 160 mill. An investment of approximately Rs. 100 mill. is further envisaged for the next two years. The new plans include addition of two new Autoconers from Schlafhorst, two Combers and a number of allied machineries and equipments.

Once these targets are achieved, Island will be included amongst the few mills in Pakistan, which can stand tall and claim itself capable of competing with any other modern spinning mills from Pakistan.
